Today’s World — current events intelligence

Understand what happened, and what the evidence says

Research files on markets, money, geopolitics and policy. Verified facts with primary sources first; who said what; what supporters and critics argue; what it means for households — and then a Christian stewardship lens. Reporting and analysis are always labeled apart, and we say plainly what we do not know.

Capstone Metals' Current Events Intelligence Guide

How Capstone monitors, verifies and explains economic geopolitics, currency trends, gold and the dollar without turning every headline into a sales pitch.

Why it matters: World events can influence confidence, interest rates, currencies, supply chains and metals demand. They can also generate dramatic claims that outrun the evidence. This guide e…

Death to the Dollar? BRICS vs. G7 Data Explained

BRICS leads on PPP, population and parts of the commodity economy. The G7 still leads in nominal output and financial depth. Here is what that means for the dollar.

Why it matters: Talk of the “death of the dollar” often combines three different stories: BRICS economic growth, the G7’s changing share of world output, and efforts to use fewer dollars in sel…

Berkshire's $369 Billion: What Buffett's "Cash Pile" Actually Is

Berkshire Hathaway ended 2025 with $369.0 billion of cash, cash equivalents and U.S. Treasury bills. Calling it "cash on the sidelines" hides what it is made of — and reading Buffett's mind beyond his own words is inference, not fact.

Why it matters: When the most-watched capital allocator alive holds a third of a trillion dollars in T-bills and writes to Washington about fiscal responsibility, both the position and the lett…

What Thiel Sold: The Filings, the Inference, and What We Cannot Know

Thiel Macro's 13F filings show a complete exit from its reported U.S. public-equity positions across late 2025 — Nvidia in Q3, then Tesla, Microsoft and Apple in Q4. The filings state holdings. They do not state motive, and 13Fs show only part of any portfolio.

Why it matters: When a prominent technology investor's fund exits every disclosed U.S. stock during an AI-driven bull market, people want it to mean something. The discipline is separating what…

The "Debasement Trade": What the Evidence Shows — and What It Doesn't

Wall Street's name for a rotation into gold, silver and bitcoin on fiscal and currency worries. It is an investor narrative and positioning theme — not an established economic fact — and honest analysis has to hold both halves of that sentence.

Why it matters: If the narrative strengthens, flows into metals can persist for years. If it fades, late buyers chasing a story can be hurt. Either way, the underlying fiscal arithmetic — defic…

Greenland and the Arctic: Sovereignty, Security, and What Each Actually Requires

A research framework for territorial-sovereignty questions: respect legal sovereignty and self-determination, examine defense realities honestly, and never confuse the two. Greenland is the live case — Arctic geography, critical minerals, and great-power competition all run through it.

Why it matters: Arctic shipping lanes, missile-warning geography and critical-mineral deposits make Greenland strategically consequential far beyond its population of about 56,000. How the U.S.…

Treasury Buybacks Are Not the Government "Buying Back Its Debt"

A viral claim says the U.S. is buying back its own debt because nobody else wants it. That is not what the buyback program is. Here is what Treasury actually does, in Treasury's own terms — and the real distinctions that matter: gross debt, debt held by the public, issuance, redemption, liquidity and maturity management.

Why it matters: Fiscal reality is alarming enough without misstatements. Getting buybacks wrong discredits every legitimate concern about deficits and interest costs. Getting them right lets yo…

How every file is built

The editorial method, in the open

  1. 1. What happened — verified facts, each dated and sourced.
  2. 2. Who said what — direct quotes with attribution.
  3. 3. Primary evidence — filings, official statistics, transcripts.
  4. 4. What supporters argue, and what critics and contrary evidence say.
  5. 5. Historical context, market and household implications — labeled analysis.
  6. 6. The Capstone interpretation — labeled as our view, never as fact.
  7. 7. A Christian stewardship perspective — principles, not proof-texts.
  8. 8. What we still do not know, with a stated confidence score.

Source hierarchy

Four tiers, disclosed on every claim

  • Tier 1 — Primary. Government data, SEC filings, company reports, court records, transcripts.
  • Tier 2 — Reputable reporting. Reuters, AP, FT, Bloomberg, WSJ and major specialist publications.
  • Tier 3 — Analysis. Quality research and commentary, weighed against the record.
  • Tier 4 — Leads only. Social posts and forums. Never sufficient for a factual claim.

Each file is classified Positive, Negative, Mixed or Unknown on the evidence — we do not cherry-pick bad news. The goal is truth, not confirmation. See our research library and citation policy.
