What the sold results showed

The American Silver Eagle 1 oz Proof coin, with a melt value of $68.94, commands a significant premium due to its collector appeal and official Mint packaging. The last confirmed sales show prices ranging from approximately $105.90 to $173.00, well above spot price. Graded proof versions can sell for much higher, with the highest noted sale for a PR70 at $1,876.51 in August 2024.

World mint commemorative silver — as issued by the mint

Modern world-mint commemoratives are struck to proof or prooflike standard, capsuled at the mint and shipped in original government packaging with a numbered certificate of authenticity. Mintages are capped in advance and never re-struck, so the population of top-graded survivors is fixed the day the series closes.

What makes this silver piece unique

  • Priced on merit, not melt

Raw silver is a commodity; a graded, designated survivor is not. This piece is priced on grade, designation, pedigree and the public sold results behind it — which is why it holds a premium that spot alone never explains.

One-ounce American Silver Eagle proof in the original navy velvet United States Mint presentation case with the Mint certificate of authenticity. Sold individually; thirty available.

Proof American Silver Eagles are struck on specially prepared planchets with polished dies, producing the mirrored field and frosted relief that distinguishes them from bullion strikes. Each coin here is housed in its original United States Mint velvet clamshell case and ships with the Mint-issued certificate of authenticity — the complete original government packaging collectors call OGP. Intact OGP matters on the resale side: a proof Eagle separated from its case and certificate trades closer to a raw bullion coin, while a complete example keeps its collector market. Dates vary within the run; ask us which years are on hand before you order more than one.

The American Silver Eagle proof has been issued by the United States Mint since 1986 under the Liberty Coin Act, carrying Adolph Weinman's 1916 Walking Liberty obverse. It is the only silver coin whose weight, content and purity are guaranteed by the United States government.
